3 Employers Helping Employees Fall in Love with Work Again

We have all heard the saying “Do what you love, love what you do”. But what does it really mean to not only love your job but to love your workplace?

When looking at statistics on why so many Americans hate their jobs, cbsnews.com found that of the country’s approximately 100 million full-time employees, 51 percent aren’t engaged at work -- meaning they feel no real connection to their jobs, and thus they tend to do the bare minimum.

Woman Smiling

When diving deep into what enhances the employee experience, a key factor that comes into play is making work a comfortable environment. Who looks forward to a day that consists of all work and no play? Not many people! Creating a relaxed environment where people can work hard without feeling so stressed and pressured enhances efficiency, success, and both physical and mental health.

Here at Phenom People, we discuss the value of a strong candidate experience and understand that the employee experience is just as crucial to the success of our business. Investing time into both creates a sense of inclusion and comfort amongst employees and clients. So what companies do a great job of combining work and play? Well in the midst of research, I have stumbled upon these same 3 companies over and over again.

Facebook

The first company employees rave about working for is Facebook!

On Glassdoor, a Facebook employee from Menlo Park wrote, “You are working with very smart people who are energized and believe in the work they are doing…You are empowered and encouraged to wield influence and ship products that can literally affect billions of people…There is also a lot of food.” From that comment it became pretty clear why Facebook employees love going to work. When it comes to caring about others, Facebook makes sure that both users and workers are well taken care of! Not only are you fueling the drive to help people but there’s also a lot of free food? Where can I sign up?!

In-N-Out Burger

In-N-Out Burger wants their employees to love their job

Although there are usually negative comments about working in food services, In-N-Out Burger has set the bar high for competing against fast food chains.

I guess the question, “Do you want to flip burgers your whole life?” can be answered by an In-N-Out employee with an enthusiastic, “Oh yes!”.

Not only are the burgers awesome but treating employees properly is key to their business. Employees appraise In-N-Out for their flexible hours, paid time off, and fun company events. In addition, In-N-Out’s owner, Lynsi Snyder, now has 97 percent ownership of the company making her a billionaire. This emphasizes that placing importance on the employee experience fuels a successful business.

LuLu Lemon

But wait there’s more! Hard to believe another company could be as impressive as the others, huh? Well LuLu Lemon’s employees cannot stop talking about the perks of work!

LuLu Lemon, another company who is expanding rapidly and shooting for the stars, makes sure their employees have it all! A recent comment from a LuLu employee on Glassdoor stated, “Great discount - 60% full price 70% off markdowns, 401K, health benefits, $16 an hour pay,”.

Another employee called the culture, “very goal oriented” and reported that it “helps you develop in your personal life.”

Talk about having it all, not only are you able to get cheap workout gear but classes and health benefits as well! It seems like making the employee experience delightful sparks a diligent work ethic across the company.

Doing what you love and loving what you do may be right at your fingertips. It’s time to start treating people like people and making work a place we look forward to going to!
