How LinkedIn’s New Video Changes Impact Talent Acquisition

LinkedIn recently announced the launch of its new video ads, aimed at enabling companies to leverage video to reach and engage targeted individuals on the platform through sponsored content and company pages. In addition to the new video ads, LinkedIn rolled out video sharing for all companies and publishers.

According to LinkedIn’s statistics, members are spending almost 3x more time engaging with video ads as compared to text-based ads. Marketers are excited about the potential reach, visibility, and engagement this can provide for brands.

What do I see? I see huge potential for talent acquisition, and here’s how you can use it.

Make Culture Come Alive

It’s one thing to express your company culture to candidates in a blog post, article, tweet, or through a picture. With the addition of video on company pages, you now have the ability to make your culture come alive, showing candidates what it’s like to work with you.

Whether it’s a day-in-the-life or a live look at a company event, you’re likely to get candidates engaging 5x more with your video content.

Evangelize Your Products

Candidates care about the work they will be doing if they join your company. It’s important to show them what your company does, including a glimpse at your products. If you’re doing something that’s on the cusp of innovation or disrupting the world one product at a time, you can easily show that through a video.

Attract the Right Talent

Let’s be honest, attracting the right talent is a top initiative for any company. Video has the ability to help tell your company’s story, illustrating the things that make you a great place to work. Aside from attracting the right talent, it will also start conversations and generate engagement on your company page.

If it’s not in your budget, you don’t have to focus on paying for sponsored ads right away. You can start by sharing video content on your company page to see how that impacts your overall talent acquisition strategy. You’ll still have the ability to look at your company page analytics to see how talent is engaging with your posts.

Excited to get started? If you don’t have video capabilities on your company page just yet, don’t worry. LinkedIn is rolling this out over the next few weeks.
